Mackerel Bay

Type Approved Anchorage.
Description Mackerel Bay is infrequently visited as it is exposed to South Easterly conditions.  In the event of Westerly conditions this is a nice place to visit offering good snorkelling and fishing. It is not a usual overnight anchorage.
Restrictions Check with base before staying overnight.
Shelter in South West to North West.
Fishing Good fishing is reported in Mackerel Bay - check the 100 Magic Miles for details.
Be careful of Don't get caught here if a Southerly change is due.
Snorkel Some snorkelling is worthwhile in favourable conditions.
Sailing Sail around the Northern end of Hook Island and back into the Whitsunday Passage.
Dive There is some good diving on offer here.
