Sue Gunston, that's our girl. 4:00pm, Mon 16 May 2011Cumberland followers would know of our recent efforts for the Queensland Disaster Relief Appeal. Soon after floods of early January, General Manager Sue Gunston had organised for Cumberland Charter Yachts to auction a valuable 5 night holiday on Cumberland Princess raising a massive six thousand dollars. On the back of that effort, the owners of the Mahe 36 "Skeddadle" from Western Australia donated 5 nights on their boat raising an extra $3100.
Its great to now have the effort of CCY including Sue's bright spark recognised by the Premier Anna Bligh and the Queensland Government.
In a ceremony to be conducted in June, Sue along with other disaster hero's will be recognised formally for their contribution.
Having started with Cumberland Charter Yachts over 20 years ago "on the docks", its a testiment to the stability and culture of the company that she has been with us this long and now manages the company.
Cumberland Charter Yachts has less than 10 staff and is easily considered a small business despite the 25 strong fleet of charter bareboats. Contributing over $9000 to the relief appeal is a very signficant effort.
