Sydney Hobart 2015 9:17am, Thu 24 Dec 2015Greg and Charlie are heading off to Sydney on Christmas Day to step on board After Midnight for the 2015 Rolex Sydney Hobart.
We caught up with them before they departed to ask how preparations are going for the Boxing Day start.
Greg said they had done a few weekend "working bees" and rigging had been inspected and halyard replaced. "The weather is looking a bit ordinary this year with 45 -50 knots predicted from the 27th onwards, which means we will get about 63 hours of on the nose sailing. Not the best conditions for After Midnight" Greg Said. The departing winds should be favourable with plenty of running conditions we will have to enjoy the first part and hope we miss the storm at Bass strait.
Its a lot of effort to get to Hobart for pie and a beer! The girls have the best plan, which is to fly in and meet the boys at constitution docks! said GM Sharon McNally. The Whitsunday based Cumberland Crew will be at home watching on the big screen and wishing the Crew all the best!
