Vote for Whitsundays to be Australia's Top Destination to Experience. 11:59am, Tue 25 Oct 2016

Experience Oz is currently running their annual Australia's Top Destinations to Experience competition where the public nominate and vote for their favourite Australian destinations.

This year The Whitsundays as a region has been nominated in the "Major Destinations" category and Whitsunday Island has been nominated in the "Islands" category.

Those who vote will go into the draw to win a number of prizes, so there is a great incentive!
Prizes:
* 1st Prize - Trip for 2 to your voted Top Destination to Experience including flights, accommodation and some of the region's top experiences.
* 2nd Prize - $500 Experience Oz gift voucher
* 3rd Prize - $250 Experience Oz gift voucher

Why vote for Whitsundays? With the many and varied natural wonders of the Great Barrier Reef at its doorstep, the majority of the Whitsundays' individual islands (74 official islands in total) are simply paradise incarnate. From Hamilton to Hook and everywhere in between, travellers to the Whitsundays can expect a constant flow of marine and beach-based entertainment and leisure options along with a healthy dose of relaxation amongst picture-perfect surroundings. This is a luxurious destination that offers a climate and atmosphere similar to that of international destinations such as Fiji or Sardinia - all without leaving domestic waters.

Each island in the chain offers something slightly different, with some specialising in more developed resort-style facilities, others focusing on eco-tourism with an emphasis on all-things-marine, and many others uninhabited. bareboating around the Whitsundays is one of the best way to get around and enjoy all the islands treasures.

Highlights abound in the Whitsundays - of particular note is the widely-acclaimed Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island, and the obvious beauty of the Great Barrier Reef itself- however there are many other, more secluded, points of significance that contribute to the region's beauty.
