Airlines, TV shows, Social Media Bloggers and Sailing Celebrities are getting on board to support a number of initiatives designed to assist Whitsunday Tourism recovery efforts post the effects of Tropical Cyclone Debbie.

Tigerair Australia announced a number of flight specials to help promote the region that's now up and running, Tigerair has fares on sale from just $33* each way between Brisbane and Whitsunday Coast Airport (also known as Proserpine Airport) and from just $66* between Sydney and Whitsunday Coast Airport, for travel period extending from 18 May to 28 June.

In further support, the airline is also thrilled to announce three major sponsorships including being the official airline partner for the Cyclone Debbie recovery concert in Airlie Beach on 27 May, the major sponsor of the Whitsunday Tourism Awards in September and the major airline partner of the Airlie Beach Festival of Music in November. Tigerair Australia recently added additional services to fly six weekly return services between Sydney and the Whitsundays and in March launched four weekly return services between Brisbane and Whitsundays, providing in total, close to 200,000 visitor seats annually through Whitsunday Coast Airport, in response to consumer demand. Tigerair Australia Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan said "Tigerair Australia is thrilled to support the incredible efforts of our airport and tourism partners in the Whitsundays which is very much open for business as usual now. "While the effects of the cyclone were severe, they were also short lived and the Whitsundays remain a jewel in Queensland tourisms crown. The way the region and tourism operators have worked together to quickly restore normality is a testament to the resilience and passion of the tourism industry in the Whitsundays. "Through our great value fares and commitment to the region, we want to encourage Australian's to show their support by booking great value travel deals to the Whitsundays."

Tourism Whitsundays CEO Craig Turner said "The Whitsundays had a great relationship with Tigerair before the recent weather events and it's fair to say that this relationship has only got stronger, as evidenced by this initiative and the low priced fares into region that will assist visitors in making the Whitsundays their winter destination of choice."

Sailing superstar Jessica Watson changed plans over Easter to support the region, visiting the Whitsundays with her family, taking out a sailing boat to promote Gobareboating.

Tourism Whitsundays are hosting 6 Instagram bloggers on board Cumberland Charter Yachts (CCY) Power Cruiser, Whitsunday Dreaming, providing Instagram access to 1.2 million followers.

Tourism Events Queensland (TEQ) invited MasterChef winner Justine Schofield. Justine is visiting to film new episodes of her Everyday Gourmet TV Show. CCY are hosting Justine and the film crew on board our luxury yacht Aquila 44 to cook up a feast and enjoy the delights of the Whitsundays. 

La Vagabond Sailing couple Riley and Elayna are in region, filming for their Youtube channel of 300,000 viewers. All arranged by TEQ, again on board a charter boat. 

Sunrise breakfast show recently filmed from Airlie Beach with live crosses to Bowen and Hamilton Island.
