Resorts in the Whitsundays

Your Bareboating Holiday is just beginning, after you arrive at your first overnight anchorage you now have to decide what you’d like to see and do!!  Resort hopping is a popular past time in the Whitsundays. Exclusivly for everyone the Whitsunday Island Resorts are award winning and well prepared for bareboat visitors, Cumberland Charter Yachts' vessels are welcome at all of them. Why not drop in for a while and experience the gourmet delights or a tropical cocktail by the pool, have a relaxing massage or cuddle a koala! Each resort has its own little piece of magic for you to discover.
We recommend booking in advance, especailly during peak periods. All you have to do is contact our office and we can book your berth or mooring at any of the Whitsunday resorts. Please note that prices quoted are a vessel per night/day price. Rates are subject to change without notice all mooring and berthing fees are payable directly to the resort..

By choosing a bareboating holiday you can have a "taste" of any or all of these resorts. When you have had enough of the "man made" parts of the Whitsundays, you can set off on your own course to discover your own idea of paradise.


Long Island -

Long Island is the closest island to the mainland, and as suggested by the name, is 9km long while only being 400m wide at its widest point! Long Island is mostly national park and has 13km of walking trails to explore the plentiful native flora and fauna on this dramatic natural landscape. Surrounded by secluded bays and expansive coral fringing reefs great for snorkellling and beachcombing, Long Island is a quiet paradise for visitors seeking seclusion and tranquility.

Palm Bay Resort

Moorings are available on application, prices start from $50.00 overnight. Should you wish to access the resort facilities,the cost is $100.00 for first 2 people and $15.00 each person there after (Limited to 2 moorings)

Palm Bay Resort is a beautiful boutique resort nestled in the neck of Long Island, one of the iconic islands of the Great Barrier Reef. With our very own secluded private cove, Palm Bay offers spacious Balinese inspired villas with extensive views to the Whitsunday passage and Coral Sea.
Offering complete tranquility and seclusion, Palm Bay has been designed to intricately blend into its natural surroundings and is simply a stones throw from some of Australia’s most iconic reefs and beaches.

Palm Bay welcomes charter vessels however they are restricted by the vessel size. Moorings cannot be booked in advance. Guests are requested to respect the resort philosophy of privacy and intimacy. Smart casual attire must be worn. Depending on the number of resort guests meals may not be available.

Daydream Island Resort and Spa

Resort is currently closed for refurbishment (updated July 2017 reopening in 2018)

There is one public mooring at Sunlover beach. The name says is all!!! This intimate Island Resort offers sparkling views of the Whitsunday Passage on both sides of the Island. 
Spending a night at Daydream is terrific as the staff are very friendly, there are great restaurants, pool and bars and a very entertaining putt putt course where you can have a friendly wager.
Why not try the Rejuvenation Spa while you are there? You can walk in exhausted from your holiday and float out as a different person! There are 14 different treatment rooms allowing you to "relax and indulge whilst restoring harmony and balance to replenish body and spirit." Have a look at for all the details. We personally recommend it - make sure you book in advance though!
SCUBA diving, parasailing and water skiing are available as well as cruises to other islands and The Reef. Vessels are welcome to anchor for a few hours off Sunlovers Beach where you are able to hand feed the friendly fish, as well as do some snorkeling and enjoy the delights of Daydream!!

Hamilton Island

$120.00 Overnight berth or $95.00 Mooring. 11am - 11am

Hamilton Island is the largest resort in the South Pacific boasting its own airport, harbour and fauna park. There are several scheduled flights arriving daily. A free shuttle service operates daily around the resorts and island landmarks.
You can select from 10 different restaurants ranging from very casual to formal dress depending on whatever mood strikes you. Hamilton Island can fulfil all of your needs from refueling your yacht to satisfying your desire to dance at the disco!!!

This beautiful island also offers an array of sporting facilities. We recommend booking your berth in advance to avoid disappointment. During race week (August) the marin is closed to visitors. A berth over Xmas and New Year is $300.00 per night. Provisioning at Hamilton Island is limited we recommend ordering provisioning online prior to arrival.

You can learn to SCUBA dive at Hamilton or why not take a day trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef where you can snorkel or dive.!

South Molle Island

Anchor only as moorings are no longer in survey. South Molle Island resort is closed, and is no longer offering any facilities for resort dining. South Molle Island is located in the heart of the Whitsundays. South Molle Island is the largest of the Molle Island Group and features one of the longest-established resorts in the Whitsundays. The resort is currently operating as a backpacker / adventure travel resort for the young and young at heart. South Molle is a hilly island with grasslands, lush pockets of rainforest, secluded bays and fringing reefs. The Molle Islands are virtually joined along a causeway so you can walk across to Mid Molle Island at low tide. South Molle has extensive birdlife that includes dozens of colourful lorikeets, currawongs and the endangered bush stone curlews. South Molle Island does however offer some excellent walking tracks that lead to beautiful secluded beaches and wonderful outcrops to view outlying islands. Take a stroll on South Molle!!
