We have just returned from yet another charter with Cumberland Charter Yachts. We have chartered with them for the last 18 years and have lost count of how many times!
The boats have always met our expectations and above, and we have enjoyed exploring the Whitsunday Islands on each charter.
The service of the Cumberland crew, their friendliness, as well as the ease of the booking site to ensure you attend to every detail makes the planning and the actual charter sure to be a success each time.
CCY's willingness to go above and beyond to give their charterers a perfect holiday was demonstrated when we encountered an unexpected issue with our vessel. They sent a  service technician out immediately to where we were moored, and when the problem was unable to be fixed to their satisfaction, they had another vessel prepared and waiting for us to change over the next morning. They had four crew there to help us change over to the new boat, and had us back out onto the water in a short time.
We cannot recommend Sharon and all the crew at CCY highly enough, and we will continue to be loyal and regular charterers with them.
Thanks guys for yet another great charter in the beautiful Whitsundays.
Ian and Anne Smith and the motley crew.

Always a memorable holiday on Cumberland Charter Yachts in the Whitsundays.  8 of us on a catamaran Laurenza, roomy, comfortable, lots of laughs. Perfect weather, we always visit Nara Inlet, Whitehaven Beach, Langford Island, Stonehaven to name a few. Saw so many whales this year. Hiring paddle boards is great to paddle over the coral and fish and stingrays. Staff all so friendly and nothing is a problem. A yearly holiday for us a must do!!

We had limited boating experience but Cumberland walked us through everything to ensure we were well prepared, confident and relaxed for our holiday.

Everything was well prepared in advance of us arriving, the support was there when we were were on the water and the final handover of the board was sad but smooth.

Beautiful boat, great team and perfect location!

We will definitely be back for another holiday soon.

Finnigan

Chartered: 21 Apr 2018

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids aged 9 and 7) spent a week on Finnigan, a 10.5metre power catamaran in April 2018. The boat was perfectly sized for a family like ours and we were very comfortable. Plenty of fridge space for 7 nights. The boat is 10 years old but is in good condition for its age. The windlass developed an electrical fault on Day 2 in Nara Inlet and we weren't able to raise the anchor as a result. A radio call to Cumberland Charter Yachts and within 3 hours they had a mechanic on the boat and had it fixed. We were impressed that they addressed the problem quickly and without fuss.
We rented a SUP and a kayak and I would highly recommend this, particularly if you have kids aboard.
This was a bucket-list, holiday-of-a-lifetime trip for us and the Whitsundays didn't disappoint. We made so many amazing memories as a family and had a wonderful time!

Chartered: 08 Apr 2018

We spent wonderful 5 days on Lazyitis, a Beneteau 323 with 3 young children (6, 3 and 1,5 yrs) in April 2018 exploring the Whitsundays. Following cyclone Iris, the sea was a bit choppy but the island were wonderful with beatufilul beaches and anchorages. The highlight was the anchorage off Whitehaven Beach which we could explore without the crowds at sunset...
The boat was excellent, and the extensive briefing and scheduled twice daily radio calls from base made sailing safe and really enjoyable with small kids.
Highly recommended company and activity to explore this beautiful region of Australia!

I have sailed with Cumberland Charter Yachts twice now, excellent service, always happy to help with the pre-planning and arrivals to make the trip more relaxing. So much to see in the Whitsundays, but recommend taking your time and not rushing. Have hired a sailing cat on both occasions, it was snug but still comfortable for 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids 8,10,12). It was on my bucket list but had to tick it off twice just to be sure (maybe even need a third time!)

Happy Hour

Chartered: 14 Nov 2017

Our experience with Cumberland Charter Yachts was first rate. We chartered Happy Hour, a Seawind 1160 Lite in mid November 2017. The website was excellent when researching our holiday. It provides a listing of available craft, video presentations for the vessel, availability calendar for each craft and will calculate costing for a selected period. Manuals are available for download prior to the charter.
We ordered from their website and were more than satisfied. Food was of high standard with generous portions, jams, sauces, salt/pepper, salad dressing, rolls provided. Cost was reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food supplied. The food was delivered to our boat in cooler boxes on the morning.
Our “Briefer” promptly commenced the induction for the vessel, in a good natured and detailed manner ensuring that we understood the functions available on the vessel and their correct operation.
We left the Marina with our Briefer who provided further information regarding various operations of the boat and we carried out various practical operations with the vessel prior to our Briefer departing.
The vessels condition was immaculate. The cabins, galley and interior were exceptionally clean. A wide assortment of cooking utensils were supplied. There is about a half size fridge, two separate freezers are located under the galley benchtop. A large esky also provided. The boat with just the two of us was very spacious and comfortable with plenty of storage. The boat was very easy to operate.

We chartered Fluffy Muffy a Lightwave 38 catamaran from Cumberland Charter Yachts, this boat was perfect for 2 couples with plenty of room, you could easily fit a few kids. the boat was set up very well & easy to handle whilst sailing or motoring, The area of the Whitsundays is perfect for bareboating there are endless bays & beaches to visit or stay the night, I would definitely recommend Cumberland they were helpful. Terry did our induction with us & was very informative with what we needed to know. the option of a light weather sail like a genoa or spinnaker for more experienced sailors would be something I would be interested in for the future. overall this was a great holiday, & I cant wait to do it again.

Great sailing, windy, great moorings but... be aware of marine stingers
Good services and advice provided by Cumberland Charter Yachts. In particular for Safety. Catamaran very good for downwind, cruising up to 7-8 knots with wind of 20-25 knots, but tough headwinds when you have this kind of wind... Moorings were great with only a couple of boats.

Charisma

Chartered: 24 Jun 2017

I would highly recommend CCY bareboating to anyone looking for one of those trip of a lifetime experiences! We were two families with limited boating/sailing experience, but with a love of the water and plenty of engineering/paddle boarding/snorkeling b/t the 4 of us adults & 3 children aged 7-12yo. We chartered the Lightwave 38 Powercat Charisma for 7 nights, which was just enough space for all of us and frankly with even the best of friends, the right amount of time together on this sized boat. We ordered meats, milk, eggs, WATER (a must) & alcohol from the local shop to be put on the boat and brought the rest in our soft packs, incl most of the veg & fruit which you can carry from Vic into Qld. Planning all meals & ingredients needed in advance a bit of a hassle, but again well worth it. Cooking facilities are of course limited (the bbq was giving us some grief).

Travelled end of June right before Vic term break and really lucked out with the weather, @20-25 every day, as you do take some chances that time of year. Brought spring suits which were enough to stay warm-ish while snorkeling for hours on end, although there were days I wished I had a full wettie. Highly recommend windbreakers & jumpers for this time of yr and also hiring paddleboards to get from the boat to the shore, as the dingy not always convenient. Also missed a lot of the crowds which we hear can be ruthless during peak times when finding the perfect mooring! Had 1-2 moments of rough seas so planned our trip accordingly. Spent a good deal of time around Hook & Hayman and basically followed calm water and snorkelling spots.

Now onto the good stuff - the wildlife & sunsets, absolutely magnificent. Turtles, dolphins, fish, corals, manta-rays, reef sharks, giant clams, sea birds..Relieved to see all of the re-growth after the cyclone in Mar/April of this year. CCY very helpful in every step along the way, all in all a very memorable trip, 10/10 and we will be back!

We chartered Mango Tango a 3 cabin 43 foot "Perry" sailing catamaran with two families of teenage and grown-up children (total of 8 - and we didn't feel too squashed) and what a wonderful way to see the Whitsundays. Eight days of gentle northerlies with lovely bays on the southern sides and good snorkelling up north. We sailed and motored, saw dolphins, plenty of turtles and of course lots of fish and coral. whilst there is coral damage in places, snorkelling highlight was Luncheon Bay and favourite anchorage Chance Bay. CCY was great and made our whole trip an easy, organised and stress-free experience. Their planning website is very useful and their friendly advice and service around places to go, transfers etc for a first-time charterer makes CCY a definite "do again" for us.

Our trip around the Whitsunday Islands was absolutely perfect from start to finish thanks to the team at Cumberland Charter Yachts. The sailing catamaran was a pleasure to sail with clear onboard navigation and the crew at Cumberland Charter Yachts was always there to lend a hand if required.
I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to head to the Whitsundays.

The Whitsundays offer some of the best sailing and snorkelling in the Qld North. If you want to make it even better try a bareboat charter on a Sailing Catamaran.
This is our 8th hire since 1986 (all with Cumberland) and even though the Cyclone has left its mark it is one of the best pieces of water in the world.
Great anchorages every night and despite 'no network' our 19, 16 and 14-year-old could not have been happier. Big days of sailing and snorkelling and managed to find some beautiful fish, Turtles, Cuttlefish, Dolphins, whales (a first for us in the Whitsundays) and even a very pretty little black tip shark.
Cumberland Charter Yachts is excellent, with the boats well cared for and the staff very responsive to any concerns. Special thanks to Megan and Terry for all the work they do.

Mary Ann

Chartered: 04 Sep 2017

Having recently returned from 5 magical days aboard Cumberland Yacht Charters' Leopard 38' Mary Ann, I would suggest everyone put the Whitsundays bareboat experience on their bucket list...
We had perfect weather the entire time, with 24c-26c daytime temperatures, and 10-15 knots.
The sailing was amazing, as was the abundant sea life. Whales, dolphins, turtles and fish.
Mary Ann was perfect for us, a group of 5 adults.
She was easy to sail and very manageable. There was plenty of room both inside and out, and we never felt overly cramped.
The booking process and ongoing communication with Marg and the other office staff at Cumberland Charter Yachts leading up to our charter were excellent.
The bareboat brief on the first morning was informative and went very quickly, and the debrief at the conclusion of our charter was simple and fast.
There were a couple of minor maintenance issues we brought to Cumberland's attention, but they are not worth mentioning here.
We are already planning our next Cumberland Charter Yachts adventure...

"Aquila Sunrise" a 44ft motorised catamaran was perfect for 3 couples. Well appointed with little bits of luxury everywhere. Easy to steer, just make certain you understand the electrics better than we did.
Thank God for the wonderful Operations support team. Great safe harbours abound with the water perfect for swimming etc.

Special thanks to Megan and Marg in the office...a delight to deal with albeit with Megan trying to steal aboard as we departed Airlie Beach!

Skedaddle

Chartered: 27 Aug 2017

We have just completed an 8day/7night sailing charter on "Skedaddle" a 2 berth sailing catamaran. The charter boat is very well presented - large beds, plenty of storage for clothes and having the separated shower cubicle is fabulous. The living area is large, well-equipped kitchen including BBQ, fridge, freezer and ice chilly bin meant we had plenty of storage for perishable food.
Stern has very comfortable seating & table, perfect for our drinks while watching the amazing sunsets. The staff of Cumberland Charter Yachts was extremely helpful, Margaret in the office while we organised which boat etc and Craig & Chris who supervised our departure and return. The daily reporting on the radio was excellent giving helpful suggestions of where to go, night anchorages and weather reports - very useful information. We stopped at Hamilton Island halfway through our charter which meant we could fill up on water, & food/drink and good onshore showers, - nice to have an ice cream while exploring some of the resorts. We would thoroughly recommend Cumberland Charter Yachts to everyone who is interested in sailing in the Whitsundays, thanks also for arranging the most perfect weather.

We would also recommend staying the night before boarding and at least one night after your sailing at The Coral Seas Resort, beautiful setting, delicious meals, lovely sunset suites and very attentive staff - added bonus just a short boardwalk around to the marina & Cumberland Charter Yachts office.

Thanks again to Cumberland Charter Yachts for a dream come true bareboat sailing experience.

Our 5 days sailing around Australia's Whitsunday Islands was just stunning and lots of fun. Cumberland Charter Yachts were very helpful in making sure we were aware of everything in the charter planning stages, and gave lots of instruction before with took the yacht. "Trinity Reign" was clean and well fitted out, making sailing, motoring and catering during our trip easy. I'd recommend it for a couple, but it could be a bit cramped for 4 as there is only one bathroom and the aft bedroom is small. The charts and digital info made navigating around the islands quite easy and the staff were only too keen to help.

Little One

Chartered: 20 Aug 2017

Spent a week on "LittleOne" which was a 37 foot Monohull. Recommend anyone who enjoys sailing to put this one on your must do list. We went early Sept 2017 and the weather was perfect with moderate winds for the whole week of charter which was great for us as it was the first time we had chartered a boat by ourselves. The view from the lookout of Whitehaven beach (Anchor in Tongue Bay) was definitely the most scenic part of the trip.

Lots of Whales this time of year and 3 times we saw them within 100 meters of the boat as we were sailing. Very happy with the bareboat, the only fault was the TV wasn't working at the time...Seriously who needs a TV anyway??.

We were given 3 or 4 hours of instructions at the start with David who was absolutely brilliant and gave us lots of tips on where to go for the week. By far the best weeks holiday I have had so far and already planning the next sailing charter holiday.

Mango Tango

Chartered: 20 Aug 2017

We had 11 nights on the Mango Tango at the end of August. Mango Tango was huge for 2 couples.
I had been hoping to get Skedaddle or Serendipity but by the time we booked, Mango Tango was our next best bet for availability on our dates.
Researching your boats preferences and nailing down your leave dates so you can book as early as possible is definitely the way to go!

Although we ended up with more boat than we may have needed, it was just brilliant to have it too. Along with the extra human space was an excellent freezer, fridge and beer fridge space which we put to good use. We self-catered for the 11 nights, buying almost everything in Airlie Beach before we left on our charter. We arrived the day before our charter and were able to take up the Sleep Aboard option for the night before our departure.

Provisioning: although I would have loved to take up the provisioning option and have all the work taken out of it for us for 11 nights at the standard we would prefer to eat it was more cost effective to do it ourselves. Luckily I had the time to put into the meal planning (and online shopping) in order to cater to everyone's tastes. (Meat and eggs [genuinely free-range, sourced locally] from Master Butchers Whitsundays ordered in advance, Coles Canonvale online order for the rest of food, and there's a bottle-o in the same shopping centre as Coles).
Although we grabbed a few more things from Hamo on day 5 or 6 (bread, milk, teabags, and booze) Mango Tango easily fitted our provisioning for the entire trip - and I'd argue we probably ate enough for 6 people throughout!

This was our second charter with Cumberland Charter Yachts and the team is wonderful to deal with. From answering all of my questions in the lead-up to our charter to the warm welcome and informative briefing we received on arrival, to storing our bags for a few hours before our departure - fantastic service. and we would happily book again through them.
