Super duper. What a holiday. As a past charterers my husband and I have always holidayed with other adults in a group, but on our last trip we decided that the kids just have to see and experience what we have. We nearly bought them all, 6 out of 7.
Landing in Hamilton Island the weather was spectacular compared to where we came from. After our briefing and settling into "On the double" we headed off on our adventure. The boat was stocked with our provisioning order and ready to go. On the promises of seeing whales, dolphins and turtles, the children saw them all on the first day, they were estatic. Could it get any better, well I think getting up at 6.30 every morning to warm weather and a swim was fantastic. The days were filled with sailing, snorkelling, eating and exploring. We visited many Islands including Lindeman, Hook and Hamilton but one of the best stops was Manta Ray Bay where the children actually swam with Grumpy the blue wrasse. In Nara inlet we made the climb to the aboriginal artwork and in Butterfly Bay we collected oysters for happy hour.
We delivered the boat back to Airlie Beach and were really taken back by the beautiful town and enjoyed a night out as our final night. It was a pleasure to meet Sue and some of the crew before we headed back to Hamilton Island on the ferry. On approaching Hamilton Island we saw a spectacular display of coloured sails as the Hamilton Island Race was in full swing.
We arrived back in our home town freezing and wondered why we aren't still there, we will definitley be back, thank you Cumberland.
