I tried for days to put our experiences cruising the magnificent Whitsundays in writing.  However, I could not find strong enough words that fully expressed the thrill of this adventure, which was unlike any other we had undertaken as a family.

It wasnt just that we were had taken control of a fabulous vessel, or the way we were so well looked after throughout this adventure by the Cumberland crew. Nor was it the shear beauty of the islands, or the way in which, as a family, we re-bonded.

But after several attempts to write a touching and complete account of this fantastic voyage, only to be disappointed by the outcome each time, my wife penned out this poem:

WHERE DO I BEGIN TO TELL

The tale of an adventure at sea?
Filled with anticipation, what joys and wonders will there be?

Days together bonding, walking through rainforest trails.
Sailing the ocean, photographing whales!

Casting a line, what fish will we catch?
Checking the book, to look for a match.

On deck the pleasure of barbequing your catch of the day!
Deciding tomorrow on which island will we stay?

Like a veil falling over your face
Youll soon forget about the rat race!

Experiencing a sense of calm and bliss
Not unlike, a lovers first kiss.

Each day spent under the Whitsunday sun.
Casting down its golden rays, until the day is done.

A new mooring a new island to explore.
Pulling up in your dinghy to a pristine white shore.

Each sunset from the boat, what can I say?
It truly does take your breath away.

As the boat gently rocks you off to sleep.
You wonder beneath you, what secrets the sea does keep?

Nights spent under the stars, looking up at the moon.
But alas, it was over, and far, far, too soon.
