WHITSUNDAYS REPORT JULY 2010 .....by Jen Curtis       Crew Member Skedaddle   Our sailing adventure began with the warm and friendly assistance of CCY, months before we entered the waters of the Whitsundays.  Arrangements were finalised it was all too easy and in what seemed like no time at all, we were welcomed by the CCY staff and shown over what was to be our seafaring accommodation for the next 7 days : our brand new Mahe 36 Skedaddle. we four should never have shopped whilst so hungry! Abel Point Marina turned on a magical sunset which followed with the perfect morning to hoist the sails and enjoy our cruising life. Skedaddle was the ultimate in comfort and she and her crew enjoyed the challenging winds and waves - even the confirmed monohullers on board, yet to be convinced of a Cats performance, couldnt fault the way she carried full main and headsail in 25 knots of wind... and yes more to the point - no heal to spill the drinks! With continued support from our CCY land crew and ever faithful charts and channel markers, we were guided into beautiful anchorages such as Butterfly Bay, Cateran Bay, Whitehaven Beach and Tongue Bay.    What is it they say? beautiful one day, perfect the next which is where we found ourselves sitting with legs over the edge of Skedaddles hull, peering into the crystal clear waters of Manta Ray Bay, pondering our morning of snorkelling, when we decided this was an anchorage to which we must definitely return ...........even though two of us had already been here before... of course, one (or four or more) can never have too much of a great thing! With deep regret we leave with so much more to explore and to share with you but that will perhaps have to wait till we report on our next voyage to the idyllic isles of the Whitsunday Passage.
