Before we went on our long awaited charter, i wanted to remind myself of the definition of our home for the next weeks name - Serendipity. The first meaning found, seemed quite apt - "the lucky tendency to find interesting or valuable things by chance... / an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.". The second - "luck, good fortune..." was something we were hoping we were not going to need as first time bareboat charterers...
With our "bible" - 100 Magic Miles, and with the expert knowledge supplied by Matt, we left Able Point Marina with the confidence that "luck" (in regard to sailing) would not be needed. We were not wrong.
As for the desirable discoveries - the breathtaking sunsets at Cid Harbour, the spectacular site of whals breaching off Hamilton, the awe inspiring expanses of Whitehaven, the friendly visits from the turtles at Tongue Bay, the inquisitive batfish off Stonehaven (some may say "stalking" batfish), the seclusion and beauty of Hook Island. Not even the 3m swells through Whitsunday Passage could put us off returning (although i'm sure the swells were closer to 10m...!).
I guess the only good fortune we will require next time will be the ability to cook up some of our catch. Although we found many schools of fish, I believe we were finding the "pre-schoolers"?
So to Serendipity and CCY, Thank You and see you next time.
