Serendipity

With minimal sailing experience we excitedly (and apprehensively) woke on the morning of our new adventure. The briefing complete, Serendipity was loaded with our delicious provision. We dropped off our sail guide after an informative session around South Mole Island we made the crossing of Whitsunday Passage for the first time to Cid Harbor. What a place for our first night: a magical sunset on the bow and a full moon rising behind the hills of Whitsunday Island off the stern. We thought it appropriate to celebrate the beginning of our holiday with a few sunset Gin & Tonic's. Finally, after so much planning we were here.

Our first morning was going to be a big trip; we were off to Whitehaven Beach. Whilst our in-house Chef made crepes and strawberries for brunch we witnessed three whales playing in the sea. Extraordinary on our first morning we were treated to whales!

The beauty of having a home on the sea is that you can set your own pace. We were so taken with Whitehaven Beach, that we anchored nearby at Tongue Bay and went back to Whitehaven the next morning. Tongue Bay also treated us to our first fishing catch, a baby Queenfish whom we affectionately named Tonguey and returned to the water. Hopefully, when we return to Tongue Bay on our next Cumberland Charter, Tonguey would have grown a little bit bigger and will visit our boat again.

For the remainder of the week , on Serendipity we experienced some of the most wonderful experiences life could offer. More turtles than you can poke a snorkel at, mother whales teaching their calves how to dive and breach, beautiful reef fish, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, eating and most importantly, great friends.

Many thanks to the crew at Cumberland Charter Yachts, your professionalism and guidance made our holiday and adventure relaxing and enjoyable and surprisingly easy.

See you soon Tonguey!
