We first cruised the Whitsundays in 2004 with a few friends, sailing a 43ft Beneteau with CCY. It took us 6 years to return but we dreamed of it often.  This trip was just the two of us and the aptly name Lazyitis was our craft of choice. What a pleasure!
After some much needed guidance from the staff at CCY we were on our way. First stop Nara Inlet and after a pleasant sail familiarising ourselves with the boat we were anchored, fishing, relaxing and sharing a snack with some local cockatoos that landed on the boat. Oh the serenity!!
Next day we explored the inlet in the tender and were amazed by the marine life in the shallows, turtles, stingrays as well as fish. We were able to get up close to the mangroves and even saw a tree snake. Overnight it has rained and the surrounding cliffs we a myriad of rainfalls. The place was so beautiful.
What a great start to a fantastic week where we swam, fished, sailed, visited islands & Whitehaven Beach and just relaxed in the sunshine away from the Melbourne weather.
One of the highlights of the trip was the Batfish at Butterfly Bay and Stonehaven. We were entertained for ages as these fish swam so close to the back of our boat in the hope of an easy dinner. After an afternoon of snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of this underwater paradise these tame fish capped off a perfect day.
Our final stop was Hamilton Island, which was timed perfectly as the calm harbour was the perfect shelter for a little bad weather. As is the local custom we hired a golf buggy and toured the island, taking in the magnificent views and the equally amazing real estate.
The week was over all too quickly and we are now planning our next visit, I dont think we will wait so long next time but we will definitely sail with CCY again. We even managed to learn a few new skills thanks to Tony.
