It all started with a Bucket List to visit The Great Barrier Reef as seen so many times on British TV with the likes of Sir David Attenborough. Who would have thought we would ever make this dream come true.....

Six novices take on the Whitsundays under cloth and motor with no experience what so ever. We can't thank CCY enough for having the patients and understanding to release this beautiful vessel into our custody for what can only be said was a wonderful experience.

From our first 4 hour induction, we were off and running. Visiting Nara Inlet for our tranquil first night, we dropped anchor, sparked up the barbie and opened the wine. Went we woke the next morning, we were still securely anchored....Yes, we done it, we were the 'Master of the sea'.

So that was it, we were off, no where was safe from us now, we wanted to see all that the Whitsundays had to offer. Cook, Columbus, Shackleton, had nothing on us. Across the Whitsunday Passage, circumnavigating Hayman, Hook, Whitsunday and Hamilton Island. A quick overnight in the Marina to replenish our supplies & cellars. Then scooting through Hook, Solway and Fitzalan Passages. dropping anchor and mooring in secluded bays and inlets, we done it all and more.

How could this adventure get any better, from the stunning azure blue sea, the lush green mangroves, the perfect white beaches to the spectacular marine life that this great country has to offer.

We anchored in Chance Bay chartered a seaplane, which collected some of us for a private flight to the Great Barrier Reef. This has got to be the best way to view the GBR and the pristine silica sand of Whitehaven Beach. (Tick, another one off the bucket list).

We had so much fun, that words alone can't explain the experience of sitting under the clear starry sky, in Dugong Inlet, with great friends and a great wine with a warm breeze rippling the water around you.

A dream come true and we will be back some day.
