We were aware that as almost complete sailing novices and as the parents of a 6, 8 , and 10 year old, the idea of a family sailing holiday was going to have some people questioning our sanity!  And to be honest, we were questioning it ourselves in the lead up to our family adventure.  Despite our anxieties, Cumberland Charter Yachts were calm, reassuring, and ever-helpful as we bombarded them with what seemed like 100s of questions. So much so, that we found ourselves on Saturday 3rd of November 2012 ready to set sail on the fantastic Seawind 1160 called XTSea.  With some orientation and some sail guidance under our belt, and to be truthful, only a vague idea of where we planning to go on our week's adventure (but I guess that's what makes it an adventure), we headed to Cid Harbour for our first night.  The next was Nara Inlet on Hook Island, next Butterfly Bay, then across to Border Island, back to Cid, Hamilton, and last night at Stonehaven before heading back to the Marina at Abel Point.  Each place had it's own unique experiences for us, whether it be learning to kayak with the children, teaching them to snorkel, visiting the indigenous cave paintings of the Ngaro people, walking through the rainforest, swimming with turtles, exploring the beautiful reefs, having the clear starry night sky take our breath away... the list goes on.  As precious and personal as each of our memories are, the most precious part was the uninterrupted time we spent together as a family.  So... no regrets just gratitude for an amazing experience.  This is what life is all about.  Seize the day, for we don't know what tomorrow will bring.  Every day we spent together on the boat was a day that counted, and will for the rest of our lives.
