A glorious holiday on board the "Sunset Lady"!

4 of us (2 adults, 2 teenage girls) took advantage of the offer to "take possession" of "Sunset Lady" (40-foot sailing catamaran) on the afternoon before our cruise began, which was a great move, to allow plenty of time for getting our gear and supplies aboard, and getting familiar with the boat. (She is capable of carrying up to 10, so was very spacious and comfortable for such a small party.)

The following morning, we got our briefing, and by 11:30 we were let loose to explore the beautiful Whitsundays on our own - not bad for a group of complete land-lubbers!

We anchored in a different location each evening - Sawmill Bay (Cid Harbour), Nara Inlet, Tongue Bay, Whitehaven Beach, and Funnel Bay on the last night so we could get away early for the drive back home.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather and conditions - blue skies in the daytime, with 10 - 15 knots, and clear black moonless skies at night. (Where did all the stars come from? And who took the Milky Way away when we got back to Brisbane?!)

Highlights? Too many to mention them all, but a couple need to be passed on:

Our youngest daughter caught a really nice mackerel within two minutes of dropping a line in the water on our first day - cleaned and cooked on the back-deck barbecue within half an hour of landing it - yum!

The walk from Sawmill Bay to Dugong Bay is a delight first thing in the morning.

Likewise, the walk to the rock-art cave at Nara Inlet, and we were delighted to have two cockatoos land on the back deck in the evening and eat straight from our hands. (Somehow I think they've done this before!)

Dugongs and turtles galore in Tongue Bay, and of course, the walk to Whitehaven lookout.

And is there a better way to watch the sun go down (and watch it rise again the next morning) anchored at Whitehaven Beach)?

Thanks to everyone at CCY for giving us the holiday of a lifetime!
