Gold Coast Joins the Sunshine Coast and Newcastle to Whitsundays with Bonza 12:03pm, Wed 04 Oct 2023
Launched in February this year, Bonza have been delivering on its promise to connect regional areas with 80% of its flights heading to areas previously unserviced. Residents from the Sunshine Coast and Newcastle have been able to fly directly to Whitsunday Coast Airport. Toowomba was also included in the line up but due to low demand, the route was cut in August this year.
Chief operating officer for Bonza Carly Povey said the announcement was "very much" about demand.
"This is about making sure that where we're seeing demand, we're really delivering for those communities," Ms Povey said.
Bonza has revealed its third base will be Gold Coast Airport* with two aircraft confirmed to operate from the iconic holiday spot to 11 existing Bonza destinations including the Whitsunday Coast with fares ranging from $49 to $79 per person one way.
“Today’s announcement is about creating more depth in our network by connecting existing Bonza destinations with the Gold Coast and also the gateway from there to Northern NSW,” said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.
“We are absolutely delighted to have this route,” said Craig Turner, Chief Operating Officer of the Whitsunday Coast Airport.
“We have been working for over two years with a variety of airlines to secure this route for the Whitsundays.
“It aligns perfectly with domestic and international connectivity, with the Gold Coast being one of the biggest destinations, and now people can pop up to the Whitsundays for a few days on holiday.”
Australian's are encouraged to download the app 'Fly Bonza' in the Apple App Store or Google Play now and keep an eye out for updates as new functions are added.
