Gold Gong for Cumberland Charter Yachts at Queensland Tourism Awards 11:39am, Mon 11 Nov 2019
Last Friday, 13 operators from the Whitsundays, including Cumberland Charter Yachts, attended the Queensland Tourism Awards held on the Sunshine Coast. The glittering event was held at the newly built Sunshine Coast Convention Centre at Novotel Twin Waters.
Recognising businesses that have a solid business plan and continually innovate their products, Cumberland Charter Yachts took out gold for ‘Unique Accommodation’, beating Gilberton Outback Retreat and Cruise Whitsundays – Reefsleep who won silver and bronze respectively.
General Manager Sharon McNally celebrated the night alongside staff and industry partners, and was quick to thank the team at Cumberland Charter Yachts and all of the boat owners.
“Without our investors, who entrust us with their vessels, we wouldn’t have a submission to write for the awards, or have such a wonderful product to offer our customers” said Mrs McNally.
Tourism Whitsunday Chief Executive Officer Tash Wheeler said it is great to see the ongoing participation by Whitsundays operators each year.
“The Whitsundays is a world class tourism destination in the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef. It is a diverse destination; over the last 12 months the industry has continued to focus on delivering exceptional experiences.
“We are so proud to have so many of our tourism products represented in the Queensland Tourism Awards each year. A big thank you to Queensland Tourism Industry Council for putting on another wonderful celebration of tourism,” she said.
Cumberland Charter Yachts are automatically a finalist at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Canberra in March 2020.
