Grand Opening of the Airlie Beach Foreshore 1:46pm, Mon 24 Jun 2019
This Saturday 30th June, the town of Airlie Beach will be buzzing with a hype of activity in celebration of the opening of the Airlie Beach Foreshore.
The Foreshore has been closed to the public since September 2018, and The Council has been working hard on the $6.3 million Foreshore Revitalisation project.
The Airlie Beach Foreshore is an important feature of the Whitsunday region for tourists and locals. It is valued for its beautiful bay and island views, relaxing lagoon and regular markets, festivals and events. The foreshore has been the home of the weekly Airlie Markets and where relocated during the construction.
The reopening celebration will have food stalls, Market Stalls, Tuk Tuk rides, fireworks, live acts, face painting and lots of fun and games.
If you have time either side of your bareboat charter, pop down and join in on the fun. It’s a great way to start off the school holidays that start this Saturday.
Features of the project include:
o 57 extra sealed carparks,
o 120 market stall sites,
o New 10.5m high playground,
o Sound stage,
o Improved amenities block with green wall and ventilation,
o New landscaped gardens and turf,
o Additional trees, palms and shrubs
o 3m wide pedestrian path,
o New and easy to read way finding signs throughout, and
o New shaded umbrellas throughout.
If you are unable to make it on Saturday, make sure you visit the Airlie Foreshore on your next Bareboat Charter with Cumberland Charter Yachts.
