Let's Go Bareboating in the Whitsundays! 9:35am, Mon 29 Oct 2018
To go on a 'bareboat' holiday, is when you hire a boat and take it wherever you want. It is called 'bare' because the boat doesn't come with any crew or food - you and your family or friends become the crew and you
provision for the charter yourselves opting to self-select your groceries, or use a local provisioning service who will deliver the groceries to your boat the day of departure. All safety equipment and a tender to get ashore is included in the charter.
Do I need a licence?
A licence or qualification isn't required to charter a bareboat in the Whitsundays, however, it is necessary to have boating experience. At least 1 crew member should be able to demonstrate basic boat handling skills and sit in on the briefing with another crew member. The briefing can take up 3-4 hours and covers the fundamental safe operation of the vessel and practical skills such as dropping and raising the anchor, hoisting sails and picking up moorings. Take our quick test and
calculate your experience to see if you can skipper the boat yourself.
Choose your boat
We have a variety of
boats to suit your requirements. Choose from

What if I don't have any boat handling skills?
Just because you don't have any boat handling skills, it doesn't mean that a bareboat holiday in the Whitsundays is off the cards for you. We have a number of highly skilled, local mariners that you can hire to go with you on the charter. They will
Guide the boat for you and take you to the best and often hidden locations. Of course, if at any time, you would like to take the helm, they will gladly show you 'the ropes'. Keep in mind, you will need to provide the Sail Guide with their own cabin, and provision for them.
Hire a host
If you really want to kick back and relax, we can also provide you with a host who will prepare all meals for you and your crew. They too will also need their own cabin and be provisioned for.
