Resort hopping in the Whitsundays

One of the great pleasures of a Whitsunday bareboat charter is the freedom to drop in at an island resort whenever you feel like it — a cocktail by the pool, a gourmet lunch, a massage or a round of golf.

Of the 74 Whitsunday Islands, most are uninhabited national park — but four offer resort accommodation, each with its own distinct character. Cumberland Charter Yachts vessels are welcome to visit all open resorts.

Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island Resort

Open

The largest of the Whitsunday Island resorts, Hamilton Island offers over 60 activities, a number of bars and restaurants, retail outlets and a variety of watersports and tours. The marina village precinct on the western side has everything from a supermarket and bottle shop to retail outlets, while the eastern side is home to the resorts, accommodation and the beautiful Catseye Beach.

Get active with go-kart racing or a jet ski tour, cuddle a koala at the wildlife park, or tee off on the island's 18-hole championship golf course on neighbouring Dent Island.

Access for charter guests Guests are welcome to book a berth in the marina and use the resort facilities. Day and overnight berth rates are available — book in advance to avoid disappointment. The marina is closed to visitors during Race Week (August). A berth over Christmas and New Year is approximately $300 per night. Download the Hamilton Island app for the latest information.

South Molle Island

Currently closed

South Molle Island is the largest of the Molle Island Group, located in the heart of the Whitsundays. The island features hilly terrain with grasslands, lush pockets of rainforest, secluded bays and fringing reefs — and is well worth visiting as an anchorage even while the resort is closed.
