Dehler 34
Treasure
Chartered: 24 Jun 2019Back after a great week. The boat was fantastic ( Treasure).
The briefing was very very good.
We had a great time in a very good boat with the reassurance that if something went wrong we would be in good hands with advice and repairs.
It was noticeable that on the scheds, other companies seem to have lots of problems, but Cumberland had no concerns .
This was a special trip for my daughter and it was perfect .
Thanks everyone
Daryl

Lucia 40
Laurenza
Chartered: 04 Mar 2018Testimonial
Great company to hire a boat from. From the moment of our arrival they paid every attention. Steve briefed us on their new Lucia 40 "Laurenza" which is a fab. catamaran.
Terry took us on the initiation run. A comprehensive exercise to demo the radio, anchor, main sail, new electric winches etc. and we were underway that morning. So efficient and so easy. Thanks Terry.
The cabin and saloon were huge. The sleeping quarters were spacious and comfy. It had 2 toilets/showers and a well equipped Galley (including oven and microwave!) with massive fridge and freezer (for a boat). Easy to hold all supplies for 5 men for 8 days.
The Laurenza holds plenty of fuel and fresh water. After 8 days, mostly motoring due to poor sailing weather, we used only $120 of fuel - so cheap.
The support and advice from Cumberland is always great whether for places to fish or things to see and do, they make it a great experience. We've used this company a few times now and I highly recommend them.
Fair sailing Cumberland and many thanks.

Perry 43 3 Cabin
Mango Tango
Chartered: 22 Mar 2019Lets sail the Whitsundays, we said! What was originally an almost flippant throwaway line, turned into a reality more fantastic than we could ever have imagined. This dream trip was first set in motion through Cumberland Charter Yachts who offered bareboat catamaran charters. Little did we know that we would end up sailing on what turned out to be, for us, one of the finest in their fleet: Mango Tango, a 43" Perry Catamaran. From the moment we stepped aboard we knew we would not only get along with this gorgeous gal, but that she would keep us safe and provide us with one of the most idyllic on-water sailing experiences imaginable. We were struck by her classy timber interior, the spaciousness of the cabins (with ensuites), the luxury of the saloon area and the generous deck space. With six of us to accommodate over a two week period there was space aplenty for each of us. One of my favourite pastimes was sitting up front on the fore-deck trampoline as we cut through the blue waters. Mango Tango handled herself beautifully and with ease, whether in a light breeze or a squally southerly. Her water and fuel storage tanks are generous and allowed us the reassurance and range to meander the islands at our leisure. And when we were moored in a cosy cove at night, those foredeck trampolines became a stargazing extravaganza. At night we would gather in the saloon or cockpit area for meals, card games and celebratory drinks after a day navigating one of the most beautiful places on earth, knowing that our "Mango Tango" was the best home away from home we could ask for when holidaying in Paradise.

Leopard 38
Mary Ann
Chartered: 15 Apr 2019We chartered sailing catamarans from Cumberland Charters April 2012 for the Tasman Ocean 35 “Serendipity” and April 2019 for the Leopard 38 “Mary Ann”. Our experience booking with Cumberland in 2012 was excellent and made the whole charter very relaxing and stress free from the time we arrived at Able Point Marina until we departed Proserpine Airport. The staff were very accommodating and caring which was the reason we went back to Cumberland for our second charter. Our April 2019 charter aboard Mary Ann was just as fun and relaxing as the 2012 charter. Cumberland was great, timely and dependable to deal with again for the booking, information and making arrangements. We spent the night on the boat before the charter began which allowed us to settle in and relax before the early morning briefing and sail guide time. We sailed Mary Ann from Able Point Marina around the Whitsunday and Hook Islands for 9 days. There was noticeable damage to some island hill sides, coral reefs and beaches from the 2017 Cyclone Debbie but the area generally seems to be recovering nicely. The charter area seemed busier in 2019 with day tours and guided charters so we started our sailing day early and finished early afternoon in order to secure good moorings and anchorages at the locations we visited. Cocktails, good food, sunsets and a bright full moon made the evenings idyllic and memorable. The weather was mixed sunny and rain but provided good, exciting sailing conditions. Mary Ann handled and sailed nicely. Was impressed with how steady and solid she was in 25 kt winds and 2 m seas. No issues other than a bilge pump light for port side engine compartment came on one day. After a quick check with Cumberland figured it was an indicator light issue only...nothing serious. Lots of fresh water, power, and galley equipment all worked great. BBQ was great! Thank you to Rebecca, Megan, Rob, and the rest of the Cumberland team for another wonderful holiday in the Whitsundays

Aquila 44
Aquila Sunrise
Chartered: 14 Apr 2019From sunrise to sunset, the Whitsundays are just magical. We've just returned from an amazing five nights, on Cumberland's spectacular Aquila Sunrise 44-foot power catamaran. The vessel is perfectly equipped for both skipper and crew. The latest electronics at the helm takes the stress out of navigation. The well appointed living and sleeping areas are a home away from home, with multiple areas for our family to hang out, either in quiet solitude while underway, or for a evening game of cards up on the flybridge. The briefing by skipper Steve was perfectly tailored to the boat and our previous boating experience (that man is a star - but, I suspect under-appreciated for his skill, intelligence and wit). All communication with Cumberland was friendly and professional and the couple of minor technical issues we struck were handled swiftly. We would highly recommend Cumberland Charter Yachts and the Aquila 44 power cat, for a voyage out into the glorious Whitsundays. Kath, John, Allie & Harry

Seawind 1000
Kick N Back
Chartered: 23 Sep 2018We chartered a Seawind 1000 catamaran from Cumberland Charter Yachts for 7 nights. It was a fabulous holiday for our family of 2 adults and 3 children (13, 12 &10).
Cumberland's staff were great every step of the way. Easy to book with friendly staff to answer questions. Boat orientation was excellent and we found it had pretty much everything we needed. We did do an online grocery order which certainly saved a lot of time. (click n collect) . The 8 berth cat was ample room for our family although l would imagine it would be tighter with 8 adults.
Contact with home base was easy and regular (night and morning) with staff always there to help. We had occasion for someone to come out and repair a split hose which occurred promptly and didn't interrupt our plans.
We didn't have any set plan when we set out on our adventure and this was great. You evaluate each day as it comes depending on the wind and the sea. Although busy in the September school holidays it wasn't a problem. There's a lot of space out there!! Our voyage generally consisted of a stop somewhere for lunch and a snorkel or maybe a walk around an island and then we would move onto a different destination for the night. The highlight would be anchoring off Whitehaven Beach for the night, what a place to wake up!. The multitude of turtles was fabulous and various snorkel spots and walks was great.
Our kids had a great trip and it is worth bringing some cards, games or colouring for some down time. We also took our own speaker which was good for music. The boat had one but we like ours.
We spent one night at Hamilton Island Marina which was booked in case we ran out of water. It really wasn't needed but we enjoyed the swim in the pool and a wander around civilisation.
On returning to Abel Point at the end of our stay the staff were once again great. They took a full report and actively listened for problems or suggestions.
Thanks Cumberland!!

Seawind 1160 Lite
Happy Hour
Chartered: 17 Oct 2018This was our 6th Bare boat charter in the Whitsundays. Cumberland Charter Yachts are a very professional and friendly company to deal with, and this was our third time with them. The charter was for 10 nights, on Sailing Catamaran - "Happy Hour".The quality of the vessel was excellent with only one small mishap, a freshwater pump failure on the second last day. Cumberland Charter Yachts promptly sent out a chase boat and repaired the pump. As far as the Whitsundays go, they are still recovering from Cyclone Debbie. Hamilton Island is really the only resort you can visit with the others still under repair, or just closed down. The reefs also suffered damage, making the usual snorkelling spots under par. Hopefully nature can recover quickly! I I would recommend this holiday to all, don't be concerned if you haven't handled a boat before, Cumberland Charter Yachts will train you in all the necessary skills (practical & theory) for the boat you have chartered prior to leaving you to sail away. PS, we did not see one shark! but stayed away from Cid harbor, and other places with cloudy water.
